The more time I spend exploring the best America has to offer, the cities--sole opinion of the general public--the more I realize how explored these places are. To know of hidden gems you must be local, a native to the area, otherwise you are re-doing the done... or spending quite a bit of time on google trusting Randy Random's review.
Regardless of the city, a "picked through" vibe radiates throughout. People have (already) visited and left their waste behind. People have (already) photographed each angle, not a single new perspective remains. It is worse than eating leftovers, more horrible than the taste they leave behind.
These are my takes (in alphabetical order) on my summer city list:
Annapolis, Maryland on August 13, 2011
Baltimore, Maryland on August 14, 2011
Boston, Massachusetts on June 22, 2011
Detroit, Michigan (and Windsor, Ontario to the left) on August 29, 2011 |
New York, New York on September 13, 2011
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 10, 2011
San Francisco, California on June 5, 2011
St. Louis, Missouri on May 22, 2011
Washington D.C. on September 8, 2011
I'm heading back into the woods, where each climb up Old Rag is different than the last.
